Hi, I’m Dorotea! I recently defended my PhD in Psycholinguistics at Université Paris Cité/CNRS, where I worked with Giuseppina Turco and Barbara Hemforth, supported by a 3-year LabEX EFL grant. My PhD research investigated how speakers and listeners encode and process prosodic phrasal information, and how this influences sentence processing, using cross-modal priming paradigms in both perception and production. During my PhD journey, I also had the chance to join Mara Breen’s CAPSlab for a visiting stay, and work on a project investigating the relationship between maturation of prosodic awareness and reading acquisition in children using a multi-method approach (EEG, eye-tracking, prosodic modeling of production data). Also, I proudly co-organized a workshop on Experimental Linguistics.

Before starting my PhD, I completed a Master’s in Cognitive Neuroscience of Language at the Basque Center on Cognition, Brain, and Language (BCBL), a strongly research-oriented master program with a specific focus on simultaneous and sequential multilingual language processing. Previously, I obtained a Master’s in Linguistics at Sapienza University of Rome, which provided me with a strong theoretical background in general and applied linguistics.
Between my two master’s programs, I trained and worked as a certified L2 teacher, engaging with diverse learner populations while deepening my interest in the cognitive and neurolinguistic mechanisms that underlie and facilitate language processing and acquisition.

I’m passionate and curious about all things related to psycholinguistics and cognitive language science, with a main research interest in speech and sentence processing and language acquisition.
